A new year ... and a new countdown begins ...

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 8th, 2009

We have a little more than three months until the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Tempe Beach Park in sunny Arizona. We’re walking this year in celebration. We’re celebrating Mother’s, Sisters, Daughters, Aunts, Cousins, friends… We’re celebrating a TWO-year anniversary … We’re celebrating Mimi, who is a survivor. October 2, 2007, she got the news and we got the call. Breast Cancer. It’s true, sometime, somewhere, someone you love will be afflicted with this disease. Your sister, your neighbor, your co-worker, your daughter, your mother, your wife, your “someone”. For us, the “someone” was our Mom. So, this year and every year we will celebrate Mimi’s triumph. Triumph over fear, over anger …loss …hopelessness … Triumph over Breast Cancer.

Over the next three months The Pink Ribbon Warriors will see hundreds! Hundreds of hours training on treadmills, hundreds of emails for fundraising efforts, a hundred (Ok, hundred-ish) team members … and with any luck, hundreds and hundreds and HUNDREDS of dollars raised to fight Breast Cancer. We hope you will be one of our Hundreds, in person, in spirit, in fundraising.

I imagine sometime down the road, another woman we love will battle breast cancer. Again, we will feel sad, unprepared, frustrated, bruised … but we will never be defeated. We will continue to fight. We will fight triumphantly for those we love and those who are loved by others. Forever, the Pink Ribbon Warriors
